Blessing Akoko, a dedicated mental health counselor and advocate, is the visionary leader and driving force behind SHPINITIATIVE, where she serves as both President and hands-on Executive Director.
She hails from Tombia Town, Yenagoa Local Government Area, Bayelsa State, Nigeria.
As a passionate mental health professional, she combines expertise from her advocacy work with academic insight, having initially pursued a degree in Philosophy from Niger Delta University. Her transition to mental health counseling reflects her unwavering commitment to addressing psychological well-being and empowering underserved communities.
Her relentless dedication has enabled the organization to foster hope and healing in communities, with outreach programs active in Bayelsa and beyond.
Blessing draws inspiration from her faith in God, the resilience of individuals battling mental health challenges, and the heartfelt testimonials from those whose lives have been transformed through her work.
Her long-term vision is to expand SHPINITIATIVE’s reach to all 36 Nigerian states and collaborate with regional partners to replicate their impact across Africa.
