SAFE HAVEN POSITIVITY INITIATIVE HOLDS INAUGURAL PHYSICAL MEETING IN BAUCHI.

The Safe Haven Positivity Initiative on Sunday, August 23, 2026, held its first physical meeting at the Railway Senior Staff Quarters in Bauchi, bringing together young people and community members for a discussion on mental health awareness and emotional well-being.
The meeting was organized to create an open, supportive space where members could learn about mental health, share perspectives, and address challenges affecting individuals and communities. It was centred on the theme “Understanding Mental Health: What Does It Really Mean?”
Participants explored the meaning of mental health, common misconceptions surrounding it, and why it matters, while also examining the state of mental health awareness within communities. Discussions further touched on challenges facing young people, including stress, pressure, emotional struggles, social expectations and limited access to support.
Speaking at the meeting, Bauchi Chapter coordinator Joseph Sule said the initiative was designed not only to support others but also to help members understand themselves and build the capacity to contribute positively to society.
The meeting also stressed the importance of service to humanity, with participants encouraged to prioritise impact, compassion and community service ahead of immediate financial gain.
According to the organizers, the Bauchi Chapter will expand beyond physical discussions, with plans to extend activities to schools and communities through mental health awareness programmes, sensitisation campaigns and community engagement. The group said it will hold physical meetings twice a month to give members a consistent platform for discussion, learning, planning and community action.
The Safe Haven Positivity Initiative’s broader mission focuses on improving mental health awareness and support in underserved communities through workshops, support groups, outreach programmes and partnerships.
Organizers described the Bauchi meeting as a small but significant first step toward fostering open conversations on mental health and building a community where people can speak, listen and seek support without fear of stigma.
